tank_and_the_bangasAs you plan your family outing to the fair, you will want to add September 3rd or 4th on your schedule to see a musical talent phenomenon coming to the Fair.  Enjoy your favorite food on a stick and a memorable line up of free concerts like the nationally acclaimed R&B group from New Orleans, Tank and the Bangas.

Tang and the Banga’s took the nation by storm after winning the 2017 NPR Music’s “Tiny Desk Contest”.

I read many reviews from their shows and they are all different.

“A New Orleans funk outfit that incorporates 1970’s soul dynamics and 2000’s rapping into an appealingly tactile hybrid.” –The New York Times

“A sense of constant discovery animates their music and drives them to glorious heights of spontaneity.” –NPR Music

“This band combines R&B with hip-hop’s poetry and rollercoaster storytelling, with a flair and alchemy that could only come from New Orleans.” – Bob Boilen

I combined the reviews and added a flair of my own to describe the experience.

“A New Orleans R&B funk alchemy of rap, animated discovery, hip-hop poetry and innovative storytelling with fabulous flair that will excite the appreciation Minnesotans have for great musical talent.” – Monique Linder

The State Fair’s celebration of culture and community includes a lineup of artists that embodies the rich culture and diversity in Minnesota.  The Pointer Sisters, George Clinton and P-Funk, Native Pride Dancers, Ambassadors of Culture, Charanga Tropical, to name a few of the 900 shows that will take place during the 12 days of the Minnesota State Fair, including a Grandstand performing by internationally acclaimed performing artist Usher.

Historically, some of the world’s most famous talent was born and raised in Minnesota.  Most notably Bob Dylan, Prince and Morris Day and the Time.  There are many cultural artists that will be featured at the Fair representing our Native American, African and Latin cultures.
