Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities Partners with Cumulus Media
Connection with 105 The Vibe will help the Mission educate on homelessness
St. Paul, MN – Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities has arranged a partnership with Cumulus Media, owners of local powerhouse stations KQRS and 93X as well as 105 The Vibe, which plays classic hip hop, to help spread the word about homelessness in Minnesota during the Minnesota State Fair.
At the Fair
105 The Vibe’s State Fair booth, located near Randall Avenue and Cooper Street, will have information about homelessness available to fairgoers. Dr. Charles P. Morgan, CEO, will be speaking on air from the Fair about the plight of poverty and homelessness, including such information as:
- Over 9,300 homeless people live in Minnesota right now (Wilder Research)
- Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities provided approximately 366,000 meals in 2015
- Nearly 3,000 men, women and children were served in the Mission’s shelters in 2015
- 167,472 suburbanites live in poverty (Wilder Research)
- Economic, racial and educational disparities in the Twin Cities
Dr. Morgan will appear on “Rock the Schools with Citizen Stewart” live podcast show with host Chris Stewart at the Minnesota State Fair with 105 The Vibe on August 26th from 2:00-3:00 pm, and for a brief interview in the 4 o’clock hour on August 28th.
Continuing This Fall
The partnership with Cumulus Media continues through this fall with a four-month campaign designed to educate the community about the issues of poverty, homeless and addiction, and to raise enough funds to provide 100,000 meals and related care. The campaign will culminate in a 24-hour radiothon to take place on-site at the Mission’s Men’s Campus in St. Paul on December 5 and 6.
Opportunities for photography and interviews will be available at the State Fair, as well as during the December radiothon.
